General Motors selects conversion partner for CNG vans

General Motors Co. has chosen an outside company to handle integration of compressed natural gas (CNG) systems in its Chevrolet Express and GMC Savanna vans.

Productive Concepts, Inc., an alternative fuels conversion company, will integrate the vans’ CNG fuel delivery and storage system with the vans’ engines at its facility in Union City, IN. The company will also work on the vans’ emissions compliance.

Rob Lykins, president of PCI, declares, "I can't tell you how grateful we are to be part of this industry-changing project, and we look forward to a long and successful partnership with GM. The GM project could very well determine the shape of the alternative fuels industry."

Once the CNG system is installed, the vans can either be shipped directly to upfitters or to GM dealers.
