NGVAmerica informed that on November 17, 2009 about 85 people including public and private fleet operators, transportation and air quality policymakers and NGV industry stakeholders attended a “Compelling Case for NGVs in Public and Private Fleets” workshop at the Crowne Plaza hotel in Tampa, FL.
The Clean Vehicle Education Foundation (CVEF) workshop was co-hosted by the Florida Space Coast Clean Cities Coalition, South Florida Gold Coast Clean Cities, Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council, the Hillsborough County Environmental Protection Commission and Florida Natural Gas Association. Underwriting sponsors included NGVAmerica, TECO Partners/TECO-Peoples Gas, and Clearwater Gas System. Additional sponsorship was provided by Altech-Eco Corporation, ANGI Energy Systems, BAF Technologies, Chart Inc/NexGen Fueling, Clean Energy, CP Industries, Cummins Westport Inc (CWI), Emission Solutions Inc ESI), FAB Industries, GreenField Compression and Wise Gas Inc.
According to NGVAmerica’s report the all-day educational event featured Stephe Yborra presenting the core curriculum with guest presentations by City of Lake Jackson (TX) Public Works Director Craig Nisbett and Blue Water Area Transportation Authority (Port Huron MI) CNG Compression Supervisor Bill Levitt. Bill Calvert (BAF Technologies), Robert Sessa (Altech Eco), Ira Dorfman (ESI) and Bill Boyce (CWI) also made brief presentations as part of the comprehensive “Wheels – Available Vehicles and Engines” session. The event included an outdoor display of several vehicles including two Honda Civics (TECO and Clearwater vehicles), an Altech-Eco Ford Focus, a Foton America transit bus, and several personal NGVs, most of which were on a state-wide tour coordinated by Wise Gas Inc.
